^Lot 125 Moorcroft Pottery by Paul Hilditch Trial Vase, Lade Garda

This large earthenware vase is a trial piece from Moorcroft Pottery, featuring the Lake Garda pattern designed by Paul Hilditch. The vessel is decorated using the signature tubelining technique, where raised slip outlines create cells for hand-applied glazes. The panoramic decoration depicts an Italianate lakeside town with a prominent clock tower and terracotta-roofed buildings set against a mountain backdrop. The scene is framed by an architectural motif of arches supported by Corinthian columns, topped with wrought-iron style scrollwork and stylized blue scrolls at the rim. The base of the design shows a paved stone walkway. The underside of the vase bears several marks including the impressed Moorcroft name and Stoke-on-Trent, England origin. An impressed umbrella symbol indicates the 2010 production year. A handwritten inscription in gold slip reads Trial 27/7/10. A blue and white diamond-shaped sticker for Pascoe and Company is also present on the base.
