^Lot 382 Goebel M.I. Hummel St. Nicholas' Day Figurine, Model 2012

This hand-painted glazed ceramic figurine, titled St. Nicholas' Day (Nikolaustag), is a limited edition piece produced by the Goebel factory. The scene depicts a traditional St. Nicholas in a long red robe and peaked cap presenting a doll to a young child in a blue hooded coat and mittens. A burlap sack overflowing with toys and a lantern with a yellow pane rest at his feet on a base sculpted to resemble snow. The underside bears the blue Goebel Germany factory mark (TMK-7), the underglaze blue title script, and an incised model number 2012. The piece is identified by a gold foil sticker as number 17,440 of a limited edition of 20,000. The authentic M. I. Hummel signature is incised on the rear edge of the base, and a black hand-painted decorator mark 4507 is present near the factory mark. Height: 6.5 inches.
