Grant (1822-1885), Union General-in-Chief during the American Civil War and later 18th President of the United States, and Robert E. Lee (1807-1870), commanding general of the Confederate Army. The design reflects their opposing roles during the Civil War, culminating in Lee’'s surrender at Appomattox Court House in 1865. The underside is marked Royal Doulton.
