Lot 26 Terraleen Hrycun (Terry Hrycun), The Rock, Oil on Canvas
Signed lower right T. Hrycun, this Rocky Mountain landscape shows a stark snowbound massif rising from a pale, wind-swept foreground beneath a clear blue sky. The composition is simplified and sculptural, focusing on the angular planes of the rock face and the contrast between warm ochre stone and cool blue-white snow. The restrained palette and open space give the work a quiet, modern western character. Verso inscribed “The Rock.” Art approximately 16 x 12 in.; framed 21 x 17 in.
Artist Note:
Terraleen Hrycun is an Alberta artist whose biography states that she grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon, studied under Lillas Farley, attended the Whitehorse Vocational Fine Arts program under Ted Harrison, and later studied Fine Arts at Okanagan College in 1976.
