Lot 10 Pitseolak Ashoona, Women Collecting Kelp, 1967
A framed Canadian Inuit stonecut print in colours by Pitseolak Ashoona (1904–1983), Kinngait (Cape Dorset), titled Women Collecting Kelp and dated 1967. The composition depicts two women gathering kelp, one carrying a pole with suspended bundles and the other holding a long implement, in Pitseolak’s characteristically bold and highly legible graphic language. Printed in dark olive-black with a blue hatched ground, the work retains a visible syllabic signature and red Cape Dorset print mark at lower right; the provided note identifies the impression as edition 3/50. Not examined out of frame.
