Lot 414 Vintage Hopi Pottery Bowl Signed

A vintage Native American Hopi Pottery Bowl, constructed of hand-coiled earthenware terracotta clay. The vessel features a rounded, globular body and a wide rim, executed in a traditional black-on-red style. The surface is covered in a natural orange/terracotta slip and decorated with black mineral or carbon pigment. The decoration is divided into panels featuring a combination of curvilinear and geometric motifs, including thick parallel bands at the rim, interlocking feather or wing-like patterns defined by negative space, and complex internal divisions incorporating dots and areas of textured, stippled black pigment. The base is signed in black pigment with the name likely Clarice.
