Lot 303 1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar

Presented is an 1878-S Morgan Silver Dollar, struck at the San Francisco Mint during the inaugural year of the series designed by George T. Morgan. The obverse features Liberty's neoclassical portrait adorned with a Phrygian cap and a wreath of cotton and wheat, along with the inscription E PLURIBUS UNUM and the date below. The reverse displays a boldly rendered eagle with wings spread, clutching arrows and an olive branch, along with the inscriptions IN GOD WE TRUST, along with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and ONE DOLLAR. The mintmark "S" presented under the wreath to signify its origin. Presented in a cardboard holder.
