Lot 169 Regina Music Box Co. 15.5-Inch Perforated Metal Music Box Discs, A Pair
This lot features a pair of antique 15.5-inch music box discs manufactured by the Regina Music Box Co. of Rahway, New Jersey. These perforated projection discs are constructed of stamped metal, likely zinc-plated steel. The first disc, Robin Adair 1329, is a traditional song. The second disc, Sweet By and By 1576, includes a copyright attribution to the Oliver Ditson Company. Both discs display the elaborate Regina Music Box Co. trademark crest and brand name in black transfer print, along with instructional "BEGINNING" arrows and U.S. Patent dates of December 17, 1889, and June 27, 1893. These discs were designed for use with Regina's premier disc-playing instruments, which dominated the American market at the turn of the 20th century. Two clear acrylic display stands are included for presentation.
