Lot 53 2pc Books on Boehm Porcelain and Birds
This 2pc collection of books on Boehm porcelain includes two significant large quarto volumes documenting the work and interests of Edward Marshall Boehm. The first volume is Frank J. Cosentino, The Boehm Journey to Ching-te-Chen, China, Birthplace of Porcelain, Trenton: Edward Marshall Boehm, Inc., circa 1973. It is bound in the publisher's orange cloth with white stamped lettering on the front board and is profusely illustrated with color and black-and-white photographs depicting porcelain production and travel scenes in China. The second volume is Charles Everitt, Birds of the Edward Marshall Boehm Aviaries, Trenton: Edward Marshall Boehm, Inc., 1973. This work features a foreword by Sir Edward Hallstrom dated Sydney, Australia, 1969, and is bound in pictorial boards with a large color photographic illustration. The front board includes the vertical text: Major portion of this book devoted to Softbills . . . Charles Everitt. Both volumes are extensively illustrated with photographs of porcelain sculptures and live aviary subjects. A decorative Seasons Greetings card from Mrs. Edward Marshall Boehm, featuring a gilt Boehm family crest, is laid into one of the volumes. Measurements refer to the entire collection.
