Lot 46 Austrian Art Nouveau Bronze Commemorative Plaquette, Jubilaeums-Industriellen Ball Wien, 1911

This rectangular commemorative bronze plaque honors the 50th anniversary of the Industrialists' Ball in Vienna, dated February 1911. The low-relief composition is divided into two main panels depicting ballgoers dancing in attire reflecting the years 1861 and 1911, respectively, illustrating a half-century of tradition. Above these scenes, putti playing musical instruments are perched atop architectural elements beneath garlands and rays of light emanating from the commemorative dates. The lower border is inscribed JUBILAEUMS-INDUSTRIELLEN BALL / WIEN FEBRUAR 1911, reflecting the Art Nouveau and Secessionist stylistic influences of the period. The plaque is likely die-struck or sand-cast, featuring a warm, medium-brown patina. The reverse is flat and unfinished, featuring a partially torn vintage paper label with the handwritten number 6924. No artist signature or foundry marks are discernible.
