Lot 36 Wayne Hall 1944 Original Illus. for The Hidden Town, Signed

A striking original pen-and-ink illustration created for the July 16, 1944 publication of The Hidden Town, a serialized story by Frederick R. Bechdolt. This drawing, likely used for the second installment (as noted on the reverse), features a stylish mid-century interior with a dramatic scene between a man and woman. The man leans toward the seated woman, who rests a sun hat on her lap, exuding a blend of mystery and domestic tension. The illustration is signed HALL in ink at the lower right. A handwritten note on the back includes a publication date, the installment number, and a caption: "Tell me how much you remember of the days when you were a little girl here" (Page 31). A pasted label on the drawing reads "mortise for type," indicating space reserved for the printed caption. Framed under glass with a pale green mat and black wooden frame.
