Lot 21 Late Qing to Republic Period Chinese Hand-Carved Soapstone Footed Vase

A late 19th to early 20th-century Chinese hand-carved soapstone footed vase, also suitable for use as a brush pot or decorative vessel. The piece is meticulously crafted from steatite, likely of the Shoushan variety, displaying a rich, mottled reddish-brown and liver-colored tone with a characteristic waxy luster. The exterior features high-relief and openwork carving depicting intricate floral and foliate designs. The underside exhibits traditional hand-tooling with visible gouge and chisel marks from the hollowing-out process. No reign marks are present.
