Lot 40 German-Style Cut Crystal & Pewter Lidded Stein with Butchers' Guild Emblem, Engraved "F.W." and Date

Cut crystal lidded beer stein with pewter mounts, the cylindrical body deeply cut with alternating panels of diamond-point and fan motifs, centered by a polished reserve engraved with a bull's head above crossed axes, with initials "F.W." and the date "1836." The hinged pewter lid is fitted with a seated dog finial and bears an armorial-style medallion depicting two lions as supporters beneath a crown, enclosing a shield charged with a bull's head over crossed axes - an emblem associated with German-speaking butchers' guild traditions. The pewter mount is further inscribed "18 16/5 79." Star-cut base with symmetrically molded optical "dot" bosses (as made), with matching pewter foot and handle mount.
