Lot 619 The SHAG Original "Waking Jose " Painting of the Enchanted Tiki Room.
(SHAG/Disneyland, 2003) The original painting "Waking Jose " by SHAG, created in celebration of the Enchanted Tiki Room's 40th anniversary. A host or hostess wakes Jose to start every performance of the Enchanted Tiki Room. In this painting from his first project collaboration with Disneyland, SHAG captures the moment the magic starts. Jose was voiced by Disney Legend Wally Boag, and as the first audio-animatronic attraction, the Enchanted Tiki Room was special both to Walt Disney himself and all fans of the Park's history. The painting is signed at the bottom left in paint, and additionally signed on the back in graphite, with the title and date. Accomplished in acrylic on masonite, the painting measuring 14 " x 24 ", is in fine condition, with two slight scuffs from display. The frame measures 20 " x 30 " and is in very good condition with small scuffs and scratches from display.
