^Lot 382 Portmeirion Britain Pomona Enamel Treasure Box, The Reine Claude Plum

This circular hinged treasure box is manufactured by Portmeirion in England as part of the Pomona botanical series. The item is constructed of transfer-printed enamel over a metal base with gilded metal mounts. The exterior features a white ground decorated with a continuous band of various fruit illustrations around the body. The slightly domed lid depicts a cluster of plums. The interior of the lid is inscribed in a black script font with the text The Reine Claude Plum accompanied by a small fruit sprig. The box is finished with a finely reeded, gilded metal mount featuring a frontal thumbpiece and a rear hinge. The base of the box is marked with the word POMONA in black serif capital letters above an oval mark with a laurel-leaf border containing the text Made PORTMEIRION in England. The item is accompanied by its original dark green presentation case featuring the Portmeirion logo in gold-tone foil.
