Lot 379 Crummles Handpainted English Enamel Treasure Box, London Stock Exchange

This Crummles handpainted English enamel treasure box features the heraldic achievement of the London Stock Exchange. The circular box is constructed with a copper base and finished in a deep cobalt blue enamel. The domed, hinged lid is decorated with a hand-painted coat of arms on a white ground, depicting two black griffin supporters flanking a shield with the red Cross of St. George and three gold scales of justice. A banner at the base contains the Latin motto Dictum Meum Pactum. The interior of the lid is inscribed with the text The Stock Exchange in black serif lettering. The piece is fitted with polished gold-tone metal mounts and a functional hinge. The base bears a circular maker mark reading Made in England by Crummles and Co. surrounding a central triangle-based symbol. The item includes its original dark blue pebble-grain presentation box stamped in gold with Crummles Hand Painted English Enamels.
