^Lot 367 Limoges Porcelain Peeled Banana Trinket Box

This hand-painted porcelain trinket box is naturalistically modeled in the form of a partially peeled, ripening banana. The exterior is finished with a yellow glaze accented by brown stippling and spots to mimic the appearance of fruit. One end of the form depicts a section of the peel curling back to reveal a cream-colored interior. The box is constructed in two halves joined by a metal hinge and an ornate metal clasp in the form of a bird. The interior of the box contains handwritten script in black ink that reads Peint Main, Limoges France, and the artist initials NgC.
