Lot 350 Royal Doulton by Charles Noke and Harry Nixon Flambe Chang Ware Mushroom Bowl
This Royal Doulton Chang mushroom dish is a footed earthenware vessel featuring a thick, multi-layered volcanic glaze. The form consists of an irregular, undulating rim set upon a squat pedestal base. The decoration utilizes the Chang glaze technique, characterized by a heavy white overglaze with wide-spaced crackle that reveals underlying layers of crimson red, ochre yellow, and deep blue. The pedestal base is finished in a lustrous, iridescent dark blue glaze. The underside of the base bears hand-painted marks in black pigment including the mark for Charles Noke and Harry Nixon, the word Chang partially enclosed in a circular stroke, and the manufacturer name Royal Doulton. Provenance sticker from PD & PBC Collection.
