Lot 336 Wedgwood Blue Lustre Galleon Plate from the Rubin Collection

This Wedgwood bone china decorative plate features a central motif of a galleon in full sail over stylized blue and white waves. The ship is decorated with a gilded sunburst on the main sail and green and red dragons on the secondary sails, with the hull featuring scrollwork and faux-jewel accents. The central scene is set against a vibrant powder blue mottled ground. The rim is finished with a wide, intricate gilded border of repeating foliate and scroll patterns and a solid gilt edge. The reverse features a gold printed mark consisting of the Portland Vase above the word WEDGWOOD, a star symbol, and the word ENGLAND. The underside retains several significant provenance and exhibition labels, including a circular black and white sticker for the Rubin Collection, a Born Collection sticker with the handwritten number 903, and a rectangular exhibition label for the Richard Dennis Wedgwood Exhibition 1982 with the reference P 204. Additional markings include a pink ink inventory code X 9903 and a dealer sticker.
