Lot 334 Wedgwood Octagonal Porcelain Luster Bowl

This Wedgwood large porcelain bowl Z5457 is an octagonal footed vessel featuring mottled luster glazes. The exterior is decorated with a mottled cobalt blue luster ground and hand-painted fruit motifs, including pears and plums, detailed with gilt outlines and highlights. A gilt rope-twist border is applied to the upper exterior edge. The interior is finished in a mottled orange-amber luster glaze with a central circular medallion depicting blue grapes and a peach, surrounded by smaller fruit sprigs. A gilt geometric border runs along the interior rim. The base is marked with a gold printed Portland Vase graphic above the words WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND. The pattern number Z5457 is hand-painted in gold script on the underside. This pattern is part of the Ordinary Luster line designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones for Wedgwood in the early 20th century.
