Lot 327 Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Chinoiserie Pheasant Plate

This Wedgwood fine bone china cabinet plate, circa 1925, is decorated in the Chinoiserie style and originates from the Dr. Ellis F. and Suzanne Borow Rubin Collection. The plate is associated with the Fairyland Lustre series designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones. The circular form features a lobed rim and a central black-ground medallion. The central scene depicts a large pheasant with elongated pink tail feathers and two smaller cranes perched among blooming pink peonies and green foliage. The wide marli is finished in a solid turquoise ground, while the outer edge is decorated with a gilded and black-enameled border featuring stylized cloud or scroll motifs within each lobe. The reverse bears a brown printed Wedgwood Portland Vase mark above the words WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND. Several labels are attached to the underside, including a silver foil Rubin Collection label, a round N and R Jacobs label, a yellow inventory sticker, and a Skinner auction label numbered 300.
