^Lot 324 Daisy Makeig-Jones for Wedgwood Butterfly Luster Porcelain Bowl

This Wedgwood bone china bowl is decorated in the Butterfly Luster pattern designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones. The vessel features a flared circular form supported by a raised foot. The exterior is finished in a mottled maroon or ruby red luster glaze and is ornamented with several stenciled gilt butterflies of various species. A delicate geometric gilt border encircles both the exterior rim and the foot. The interior of the bowl displays a contrasting iridescent pale yellowish-green mottled luster ground. A large, centrally positioned butterfly is rendered in multi-colored enamels including shades of blue, orange, and green, accented with heavy gilt highlighting. A matching gilt repeating border runs along the inner rim. The base of the bowl bears a printed mark in gold featuring the Portland Vase, the name WEDGWOOD, a star symbol, and the word ENGLAND.
