^Lot 310 Sally Tiffin for Dennis China Works Lidded Jar, Elephant Sunset 2002

This contemporary studio pottery earthenware lidded jar was produced by Dennis China Works in 2002. The piece features the Elephant Sunset pattern and is signed by Sally Tiffin and Richard Dennis. The cylindrical jar is decorated with a wrap-around tube-lined design depicting a herd of elephants against a horizontal gradient background of black, orange, and red, evoking an African sunset. The elephants are finished in a textured charcoal glaze with hand-painted red accents for the eyes. The jar is fitted with a slightly domed lid surmounted by a molded black elephant finial. The interior and the top of the lid are finished in a high-gloss black glaze. The base contains several hand-painted and stamped marks in blue underglaze, including Dennis China Works, a rectangular ADP stamp, CW F, the year 2002, a stylized S-shaped monogram, and No 1. It also bears the cursive signature S.T. Des.
