Lot 278 3pc Wedgwood Hand-Painted Porcelain Landscape Cabinet Plates
This trio of Wedgwood porcelain cabinet plates features hand-painted central landscape vignettes. One plate depicts Windsor Castle, another depicts the ruins of Kilchurn Castle, and the third shows a coastal scene with sailboats and a clifftop ruin. The coastal scene is signed J.H. Plant in the lower left of the vignette. Two plates feature powder blue borders, one with a wide acid-etched gilded border and the other with a gilded vine-and-leaf border. The third plate has a blue border decorated with a wide band of raised-gold foliate scrollwork. The reverse of each plate bears a WEDGWOOD and MADE IN ENGLAND stamp. Titles for Windsor Castle and KILCHURN are hand-written in red script on the reverse. Provenance is indicated by several collection and auction labels, including the Rubin Collection, the Shulman Collection, and Skinner auctions.
