Lot 277 Wedgwood Porcelain Fruit Study Bowl Signed A. Holland from The Rubin Collection
A Wedgwood fine bone china charger featuring a hand painted fruit study signed by the artist A. Holland. The central circular reserve depicts a still life of peaches, clusters of white grapes, raspberries, and blackberries against a variegated ground. The painting is signed A. Holland in the lower left portion of the scene. This central medallion is framed by a gilded foliate border. The wide shoulder of the plate is finished in a mottled powder blue glaze, accented by an outer geometric black and white border with a gilt edge. The reverse displays the printed brown Portland Vase mark above the word WEDGWOOD, a star, and ENGLAND. A silver toned collector label for the Rubin Collection is affixed to the back, alongside a dealer label with an inventory number and a date of circa 1910.
