Lot 274 Antique Wedgwood Aesthetic Movement Geese Transferware Cabinet Plate from Rubin Collection
This large circular earthenware cabinet plate was produced by the Wedgwood factory in Staffordshire, England. The central multi-color transfer-printed scene depicts three geese, featuring a prominent brown-tinted goose in the foreground and two white geese behind it, set within a landscape with a rustic wooden fence and foliage. The wide border is decorated in the Aesthetic Movement style, incorporating stylized orange and yellow floral motifs, scrolling green foliage, and brown diaper-patterned panels. The rim is finished with a solid green-painted edge. The reverse side bears factory marks stamped in reddish-brown ink, including ENGLAND and WEDGWOOD, indicating a production date after 1891. Additional markings include a circular black stamp for the Rubin Collection, a handwritten red inventory number A4359, and a small paper label from The Ivy House.
