^Lot 262 Wedgwood G. Siever Hand Painted Portrait Plate from The Rubin Collection

This Wedgwood earthenware display plate features a hand-painted profile portrait of a young woman, executed in the Aesthetic Movement style. The subject is depicted wearing an oversized navy blue hat decorated with voluminous pale blue and white ostrich feathers. The portrait is set against a vibrant, heavily textured gilded background. The plate is signed G. Siever and dated 81 in the lower left quadrant of the obverse. The reverse bears an impressed WEDGWOOD factory mark. Additional markings and provenance indicators include a circular blue and white label for the Wedgwood International Seminar Texas Exhibit 2012, along with a small circular inventory label marked ww rubin. The body is a cream-colored earthenware finished with a thin black painted border at the rim.
