The inner rim is decorated with a wide iron-red fish scale border accented with gilded cartouches. The base contains an underglaze green printed factory mark WEDGWOOD and the word ENGLAND. A red overglaze retailer mark identifies the piece as manufactured for James Powell and Sons, Whitefriars Glass Works, London. A hand-painted black M monogram is also present on the base.
