This miniature round box with lid is manufactured by Wedgwood in England. The piece is crafted from black basalt, a type of unglazed stoneware often categorized with Jasperware. The center of the lift-off lid features a relief-molded Egyptian winged sphinx in a seated profile position, decorated with gold-toned metallic gilding.
