Lot 234 Wedgwood Genius Collection Gilded Portland Blue Jasperware Canopic Vase and Cover

This contemporary limited-edition ceramic vessel is part of the Genius of Wedgwood collection, produced in Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, England. The piece is a reproduction of a 19th-century Egyptian Revival design. It is crafted from Portland Blue jasperware, a fine-grained unglazed stoneware. The lidded vase is modeled as a canopic jar, featuring a cover in the form of a pharaoh's head with a gilded Nemes headdress and broad collar. The ovoid body is decorated with applied gilded bas-relief ornamentation, including horizontal friezes of stars, a winged sun disk, sphinx, ibis, and various zodiac symbols. The vessel sits on a circular pedestal foot with a gilded band. The base is impressed with the marks WEDGWOOD, MADE IN ENGLAND, and the date code 97, along with the letter N and characters AM. A gilded circular inscription on the base reads GENIUS COLLECTION, CANOPIC VASE. INSPIRED BY A 19TH CENTURY ORIGINAL. NO. 47 IN A LIMITED EDITION OF 200. The lot includes the original blue presentation box with the Wedgwood logo and a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Chief Executive Officer Brian Patterson, confirming the item as number 047 of 200.
