Lot 222 Doulton Lambeth by Hannah Barlow Stoneware Salt Glazed Lion Vase

English stoneware vase, salt-glazed in tones of light gray, blue, and brown. The body features an incised continuous frieze depicting a pride of lions within a landscape setting. The central band is bordered above and below by blue and white relief floral motifs, with additional bands of incised blue acanthus leaf decoration. Decorated by Hannah Barlow (1851-1916), a British ceramic artist active at the Doulton & Co. Lambeth studio in London during the late 19th century. Barlow joined the firm in 1871 and is recognized as the first female artist employed at the studio, noted for her incised animal scenes on salt-glazed stoneware. The underside bears the impressed Doulton Lambeth mark along with the artist's monogram.
