Royal Doulton Marley's Ghost D7142 large character jug. This earthenware jug is constructed with hand-painted under-glaze and over-glaze enamels. The subject is depicted with a detailed face, realistic flesh tones, and gray hair, wearing a pale blue head wrap tied under the chin. The base and handle are a deep purple color, molded with gray chains, a padlock, and tan cash boxes. On the reverse, an orange-red book is visible among the chains with the word LEDGER partially visible on the cover. The base features a black printed mark. The outer edge of the mark states: THIS ITEM IS THE PROPERTY OF ROYAL DOULTON (UK) LTD AND TITLE REMAINS WITH THE COMPANY AT ALL TIMES. The center logo features four interlocking D characters, surrounded by the words MADE IN ENGLAND and ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND, surmounted by a crown and lion.
