Lot 192 Royal Doulton Advertising Figurine, PG Tips Chimp - Ada MCL25
Introduced in 1930 by Brooke Bond under the name "Pre-Gestee" and originally promoted as a digestive aid, PG Tips grew into one of Britain's leading tea brands, distinguished by its use of the top two leaves and a bud. The brand became widely recognized through its 1956 "chimps tea party" advertisements and later with the introduction of pyramid tea bags in 1996. This limited edition hand-decorated ceramic figurine, numbered 362 of 750 and produced by Royal Doulton, portrays Ada from the long-running PG Tips chimpanzee advertising campaign. Finished in a high-gloss glaze, the figure is modeled in anthropomorphic dress, wearing a white wig, orange-rimmed spectacles, a pearl-style necklace, and a floral apron over a red dress. She is shown in a slightly hunched stance, holding a grey teapot. The circular base bears the PG Tips logo and the slogan "It is the Taste," along with the Royal Doulton backstamp. Includes certificate of authenticity.
