^Lot 177 Michael Sutty Porcelain Figurine, Royal Navy Sub-lieutenant 1897

This fine porcelain figurine is produced by The Michael Sutty Porcelain Manufactory and depicts a Royal Navy Sub-lieutenant in the uniform of 1897. The officer is portrayed standing at ease with hands clasped, dressed in a dark blue double-breasted frock coat with gold-toned buttons and rank lace, paired with white trousers and a white-topped peaked cap. The circular base is titled on the front in black script and finished with gilded bands. The underside features the official black printed factory backstamp with a sword emblem, the printed signature of Michael Sutty, and is inscribed Made in England and Modeled and Hand Painted. This piece is identified as model number 67 from a limited edition of 250. A hand-painted decorator mark resembling a stylized M is also present on the base.
