^Lot 153 Carlton Ware Limited Edition Character Series Figurine, Mephisto

A Carlton Ware hand-painted glazed ceramic figurine titled Mephisto, part of the Character Series and produced in 1998. The figure depicts a male character with a goatee and peaked cowl, dressed in a voluminous purple cape with a high collar over a blue doublet and hose, standing before a gnarled, leafless tree stump on a textured base. The underside of the base is marked with the title Mephisto, Character Series by Carlton Ware, and Limited Edition 500 worldwide, with the specific hand-written number 325. Additional markings indicate the item was modeled by Andrew Moss, based on a series concept by Francis Salmon, and includes a printed signature of F Salmon. Further text states it was Made in Stoke on Trent England for Francis Joseph London, bearing a copyright date of 1998.
