Lot 150 Wedgwood Bone China Limited Edition Figurine, Akhenaten Legends of the Nile Collection
This Wedgwood Akhenaten fine bone china figurine is a part of the Legends of the Nile collection. Sculpted by John Wincentzen for Compton & Woodhouse, the figure represents the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh in ceremonial regalia. The standing figure is decorated with polychrome enamel and gold-tone accents. The Pharaoh is depicted wearing a blue and gold headdress, an ornate collar, armbands, and a patterned loincloth with a central decorative panel. He holds a gold-tone scepter topped with a falcon finial representing Horus. The circular base features stylized papyrus or lotus motifs and a band of Egyptian hieroglyphs. The underside of the base contains the Wedgwood urn logo, the name Akhenaten in gold script, and the collection details. It is marked with the model number CW 406 and the Compton & Woodhouse copyright. This piece is a limited-edition number 332 of 9500.
