A Royal Doulton earthenware plate from the Souter Cats series, also known as the Kateroo series ware. This large circular plate features a central transfer-printed illustration titled The Wedding Tour, depicting three stylized black cats in a linear composition against a cream ground. The illustration is signed with a cross-hatch symbol followed by Souter, the mark of Australian artist David Henry Souter. The plate features a wide Art Nouveau border decorated with four female heads with long whiplash hair intertwined with scrolling foliate and geometric patterns in olive and gray tones. The underside bears the Royal Doulton backstamp.
