Lot 354 Royal Doulton Character Teapot, Falstaff D6854
A Royal Doulton first introduced in 1989. This hand-made and hand-decorated ceramic piece features an anthropomorphic design depicting the Shakespearean character seated in an orange tunic, reddish-brown boots, and a tan cloak. A mug held in the character's right hand serves as the spout, while the left hand rests on his hip. The removable lid is formed by the character's head, which is detailed with a grey beard and a black and orange plumed hat. The piece is finished in a high-gloss glaze. The underside is fully marked with the Royal Doulton lion and crown logo, the series name Character Teapots, the model name and number, and the designer's name, William K. Harper, alongside the copyright date 1989.
