^Lot 339 3pc Royal Doulton Character Jugs, The Pied Piper, Porthos, and Don Quixote

This lot comprises three Royal Doulton glazed earthenware character jugs. Each jug is hand-painted and features a handle modeled after elements associated with the character depicted. The first jug is The Pied Piper, model D6403, designed by Max Henk and issued starting in 1954. The form depicts a man with a weathered face wearing a dark green hat and red and yellow garment, with a handle modeled as a wooden pipe with rats climbing it. The second jug is Porthos, model D6440, designed by Max Henk and issued starting in 1956. The form depicts the Musketeer character with a dark mustache and goatee, wearing a dark hat with a large white feather and a sword hilt handle. The third jug is Don Quixote, model D6455, designed by Max Henk and issued starting in 1957. The form depicts the knight with a white beard and a helmet featuring a large white feather handle, decorated in shades of gray, blue, and brown. The base of each jug bears the Royal Doulton backstamp.
