A pair of Royal Doulton character jugs comprising the King and Queen of Clubs D6999 is numbered 877 of 2,500. and the King and Queen of Diamonds D6969, is numbered 649 of 2,500. These double-sided glazed ceramic Toby jugs were modeled by Stanley James Taylor. Each jug features two faces holding oversized playing cards corresponding to their suits. The King and Queen of Diamonds was produced in 1994 and The King and Queen of Clubs produced in 1995. The figures are decorated in multi-colored enamels with yellow crown-style rims and black scroll handles. Bases are marked with manufacturer backstamps, edition numbering, and the artist's name. Measurement is for largest item.
