^Lot 329 Royal Doulton Long John Silver Large Character Jug

A large-sized Royal Doulton character jug titled Long John Silver, model D6335. This glazed earthenware piece was designed by Max Henk and produced from 1952 to 1998. The jug features a high-relief portrait of the famous pirate from Treasure Island, depicted with a weathered complexion and wearing a black bicorne hat with a skull and crossbones over a cream-colored bandana. The handle is intricately formed by his green and gray parrot, Captain Flint, perched upon his shoulder. The reverse of the jug features the name Long John Silver in raised relief. The piece is finished in a vibrant, hand-painted polychrome palette under a high-gloss glaze. The base features the standard Royal Doulton lion and crown backstamp in green, along with the inscriptions Long John Silver, D. 6335.
