^Lot 244 Nao by Lladro Gres Figurine Fisherman with Pipe on Barrel

This ceramic figurine, produced by Nao, a brand of the Lladro group, depicts an elderly fisherman or sailor in a contemplative pose. The figure is seated atop a dark brown barrel featuring simulated wood grain and a relief-molded label on the front reading MADE IN ESPAÑA. The character is portrayed with a full beard and a tan nightcap, wearing a long mottled blue coat with a crystalline-style glaze over teal-colored trousers and brown boots. He holds a black pipe to his lips with his right hand and a small brown tobacco pouch in his left. The piece is finished in the matte, textured stoneware glaze characteristic of the Nao Gres collection. The underside of the base features a blue printed backstamp with the Nao bellflower logo, the name NAO, HAND MADE IN SPAIN, and the copyright © DAISA 1983. Incised marks B - 3 J and the number 23 are also present on the base, along with a circular ventilation hole from the firing process.
