A glazed porcelain figurine manufactured by Lladro, model number 5245, titled The Reader or El Lector and commonly identified as the Hebrew Student. The figurine depicts a slender young man in a contemplative pose, seated on a rocky outcrop adorned with stylized foliage and grass. The subject wears a white skullcap and holds a small open book in his left hand. He is dressed in a white long-sleeved shirt and gray trousers. The piece is finished in a muted polychrome palette with a high-gloss glaze. The underside of the base features a blue underglaze stamp consisting of a bell-shaped floral logo above the text LLADRÓ, followed by HAND MADE IN SPAIN and © DAISA 1984. There is an incised mark that reads F-18 O and a small impressed square mark containing an illegible character. This model was designed by sculptor Salvador Furió and was first issued in 1984.
