Lot 100 Goebel M.I. Hummel Figurine, Land in Sight
This large hand-painted glazed ceramic Goebel M.I. Hummel figurine is titled Land in Sight (Land in Sicht), model number Hum 530. It is a Quincentennial Limited Edition piece issued to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America (1492-1992). The composition depicts five young boys in a wooden sailing vessel navigating blue and white waves. The group includes a helmsman, a boy with a telescope, one blowing a horn, and two lookouts. The vessel features a central mast with a cream sail, string rigging, and a red pennant flag, with an orange fish jumping at the base. The underside displays the TMK-7 Goebel Germany factory mark, a blue commemorative 1992 Quincentennial stamp, the title, and the hand-painted edition number 12097 of 30,000. The piece is signed with the incised M.I. Hummel signature on the rear hull and includes the decorator mark Wi. Height: 9.5 inches.
