Lot 94 Goebel M.I. Hummel Figurine, Crossroads
This classic Goebel M.I. Hummel figurine, titled Crossroads (German title: Halt-Station), is model number 331. The hand-painted earthenware bisque piece depicts two young wanderers pausing at a rustic wooden signpost. One boy is dressed in a yellow plaid cap and orange scarf, carrying a red polka-dot bindle and a long yellow horn. The second boy wears a blue cap and green trousers, leaning on a dark walking stick. A small yellow and black bird is perched atop the signpost, which features directional signs marked WEST and HAL. The underside features the blue Goebel trademark with the Bee inside V and W. Germany (TMK-5, circa 1972–1979). The model number 331 is incised, along with the 1955 design copyright year and a blue painter's mark. An original paper title label is affixed to the side of the base. This hum piece stands at a height of 6.75 inches.
