Lot 90 Goebel M.I. Hummel Figurine, School Girls Hum 177/I

This hand-painted ceramic figurine, titled "School Girls" (also known as "The Three Girls"), is a quintessential example of the work produced by Goebel based on the illustrations of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel. The piece depicts three young girls in mid-century German dress, with one engaged in knitting and another carrying a brown school satchel. The underside features the blue TMK-3 "Stylized Bee" trademark, used between 1960 and 1972, along with the "© by W. Goebel" and "W. Germany" stamps. The model number "177/I" and decorator mark "81" are incised on the bottom, while the "M.I. Hummel" signature is incised on the rear of the base. A vintage dealer label is also present on the underside. Height: 9.5 inches.
