^Lot 1 G. Danti Italian Art Pottery Mongolian Warrior Figurine

This large-scale glazed ceramic figurine is the work of Italian ceramicist G. Danti. The piece depicts a muscular, bare-chested male figure. The figure is posed standing, supporting a woven basket filled with fruit including grapes and oranges on his right shoulder. An orange fringed shawl drapes over his right arm. He holds a black lantern in his left hand. His attire consists of a wide-brimmed black hat, red trousers, and a blue-and-white striped sash containing multiple daggers. He wears black bucket-top boots embellished with gold-tone accents. The figure stands on a base draped with yellow cloth. The construction features a reddish-brown earthenware body finished with polychrome glazes. A hand-painted signature in gold-tone pigment reading G. DANTI is located on the reverse side of the figure's left boot cuff.
