Lot 105 Japanese Satsuma Moriage Earthenware Vase

Item/Description: Japanese Satsuma moriage earthenware vase, Showa period, circa 1921-1950. Of ovoid form with a flared rim and ringed foot. The dark chocolate-brown ground is meticulously hand-painted in polychrome enamels and extensive gold gilt. Centrally decorated with traditional figures, likely Immortals, within a stylized landscape. Notable for its moriage techniques featuring raised, tactile enamel detailing on the ornate robes. Finished with geometric and foliate gilt borders. The base is marked with a hand-scripted red signature and stamped "MADE IN JAPAN," identifying it as a high-quality export ware from the post-1921 period.
