Lot 93 Chinese Celadon-Glazed Reticulated Floral Vase

Item/Description: Chinese celadon-glazed reticulated "Chrysanthemum and Prunus" vase. Republic Period, early to mid-20th century. Of baluster form with a flared neck and pair of dragon-form handles with suspended rings. The double-walled body features two large, opposing reticulated panels containing high-relief floral scenes: one side depicting a blossoming chrysanthemum and the reverse featuring prunus (plum) branches, representing Autumn and Winter. The exterior is further embellished with incised diamond-lattice and "Greek key" fret bands. Covered overall in an even, celadon glaze, the piece represents the technical virtuosity of the Republican period’s revivalist style.
