Jacob Asanger (1887 - 1941) Painter, poster artist, etcher, craftsman. Born in Altatting, Bavaria on Jan. 20, 1887. Asanger was active in NYC before settling in Los Angeles about 1925. He painted billboards for Foster & Kleiser Company and taught at the Chouinard Art School until his death on June 22, 1941.
Artist info label adhered to back from Franz Hanfstaengl, NYC. Franz Hanfstaengl (German, 1804-1877) established a significant presence in New York City, specifically on Fifth Avenue, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. (Braxton Art Company Framer).
